Message from Valerie's family...

Dear friends and family

Sadly, our mother Val passed away on 5 March this year - one day before her 92nd birthday. Covid regulations at the time meant that the numbers attending her funeral service at Hutcliffe Wood were severely limited. Moreover, for the same reason, we were not able to host any form of reception afterwards for those of you kind enough to attend.

In accordance with her wishes we - Adrian, Sally and myself - intend to hold a celebration to remember her in her home village of Dore. 

The venue is Christ Church Dore Community Centre, Townhead Road, Dore, Sheffield, S17 3GA.

It is a large and airy hall (ideal for social distancing) and just as importantly, very warm inside. We will have the hall set up to receive guests as from 2:00pm on the day. 

We are inviting as many of her friends and family as possible, but if you come across any of Val’s friends who might be unaware please let them know about this event and ask them to make contact with us (rmhmalthouse@gmail.com).

There will be a buffet, including cakes baked to Val’s own recipes. And displays about Val’s life.
It would be really helpful if you could let us know whether you are likely to be attending.

Please also let us know if you have any special dietary requests.

Whilst we’d love to see you all we do understand that travelling some distance in March may not be especially attractive - and of course you may be concerned at the prospect of meeting up with others. For our part we will all be taking Covid tests before the event - and would urge others to do the same. Needless to say we will be complying with all health regulations in force at the time.

We look forward to hearing from you - and hopefully seeing you next March.
