Dore Festival 2016 and Scout & Guide Gala

The 2016 Dore Festival will be held from Saturday 25th June to Sunday 10th July, with the Scout and Guide Gala on Saturday 9th July.



The programme of events for the first week is as follows:



Saturday 25th June

Dore Boundary Walk. Arranged by Dore Village Society. Meet at Whirlow Bridge at 10.00 am. Distance approximately 10 miles. Bring a lunch and drinks. There will be a lunch stop where we will hear a talk about the Roman excavations at Whirlow Hall Farm. Everyone welcome



Sunday 26th June

Dore Open Gardens, organised by Jean Stevens and Sue Wilcock. All welcome, runs from 2.00 - 6.00 pm

We will have gardens on display of all shapes, sizes and stages of development. Entry costs £4.00 per person and this provides entry to all of the gardens; anyone aged 16 or under is admitted free. Tickets can be bought in advance from Valerie of Dore or on the day at the first garden visited. Refreshments available at most houses and proceeds go to charity.



Monday 27th June

Dore Heritage Trail, organised by led by Dorne Coggins.

This walk highlights some of the sites that are featured in the heritage leaflet. The walk will be leaving just after 10.00 am so meet at Dore Old School by 10.00 am. To book call 236 0002. ALL WALKERS PARTAKE AT THEIR OWN RISK.



Monday 27th June

Christ Church Mothers’ Union Strawberry Fayre. Taking place at Dore Old School 2.00 - 4.00 pm. Open to all.



Monday 27th June - Friday 1st July

Preparation of village well dressing board, Scout HQ, Rushley Road, daily 10.00 am - 12.00 pm noon, 2.00 - 5.00 pm and 7.00 - 9.00 pm. New helpers always welcome. Come along and learn this ancient craft.



Thursday 30th June

"Trees of Dore." An exploratory walk led by Tony Heathcote. Meet at Dore Old School at 7:30 pm. To book call 236 0002.



Saturday 2nd July

Unveiling of the Village and Guide Well Dressings – Village Green and Devonshire Terrace Road, both at 10am. Help needed to lift and secure the Village Green dressing.



Saturday 2nd July

Wyvern Walk (5.5 miles) Led by Chris Cave. Meet Dore Old School for 9.30 am start.



Saturday 2nd July

Classic Car Show Hosted by Dore Club. Dore Club, Townhead Road From 1.00 pm onwards Free Entry.



Saturday 2nd July

Summer Concert, Dore Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Dore Church Hall 7.30 pm. Tickets £7. Tel: 2362299.



Sunday 3rd July

Well Dressing Service. Dore Village Green 3.00 pm Everyone welcome.
