We are very pleased to welcome Dick Shepley who will give us an illustrated talk about The Shepleys of Woodthorpe Hall. Dick's grandparents Jack and Emily came to Woodthorpe Hall in 1926 with their daughter Jeanne and four sons Seymour, Rex, Frank and Douglas. Tragedy struck the family during World War Two when Jeanne, Rex and Douglas were all killed. Dick will tell us how the devastated family responded to these losses and how our local pub proudly bears the name - The Shepley Spitfire.
