Dorothy Trott lived with her adopted family in many different houses in Totley, after they had moved from the Wortley valley where Wortley Ironworks was situated, first to a house somewhere in Sheffield. Tom Trott had been put in charge of building a new factory and running this subsidiary works of Thomas Andrews in Sheffield in the early 1900s. On Thomas Andrews' death a short while later, his son Rex and Mr Trott went into partnership. Wortley Hall and the Ironworks were sold. Rex moved to Totley with his mother. But eventually he decided to go to Cambridge and enter the church. The house he and his mother lived in was Edgecumbe, and at some time the Trotts lived there.
