Spade Guinea

1. Spade guinea.

George III Spade Guinea token. Brass. Dated 1798, but often made in the reign of Queen Victoria and stamped with a prior monarch to avoid counterfeit laws. Used in card games and for gambling. Deliberately pierced in manufacture to hang on a watch chain.

Donated by Ash Malia of Whirlow Hall Farm. Found in the 18th Century Farm house.
