The Coronation

We bought our first TV just before coming to live in Sheffield in 1953 so we had it in time to watch the Coronation. It was unforgettable; all the pomp and ceremony. Everyone had the day off and there were street parties all over England. My daughter can remember sitting in front of the TV. The lady next door came in to watch and some other friends. Many dignitaries and royalty from all over the world attended. The Abbey was absolutely full and thousands of people watched from outside. It was a day to remember.
